How to Switch Cross and Isolated Margin
Perpetual Contracts support two margin modes: Cross Margin (Cross) and Isolated Margin (Isolated)
1. Differences Between Cross and Isolated Margin
Cross Margin (Cross) | Isolated Margin (Isolated) | |
Margin Source | Full available balance in the contract account | Only the margin allocated to this position |
Maximum Loss | Total contract account equity | The margin cap for this position |
Liquidation Impact | Shared across all cross positions in the contract account; losses affect the overall account | Only affects this isolated position and its corresponding open orders; other funds in the account are unaffected |
Add Margin | Transfer in from other accounts to supplement | Must be manually added to this position |
Suitable Scenarios | Hedging multiple positions, when account balance is sufficient | Controlling single-trade risk; ideal for beginners |
2. Switching the Margin Mode
In the order panel of the Trading Interface, tap the mode label in the top-left corner (showing "Isolated" or "Cross"). When the Margin Mode selection panel appears, tap the desired mode to switch.
① Tap the "Isolated" label in the top-left corner | ② Panel appears — select Cross or Isolated |
Cross Margin (Cross):Margin and PnL are shared across all positions. When forced liquidation occurs, all positions in the account may be closed.
Isolated Margin (Isolated):Margin and PnL are independent for each position. Liquidation only affects the specific position; other account funds remain unaffected.
*Switching the margin mode requires that the contract has no open positions and no pending orders. If you already have open positions or pending orders, the system will prompt that switching is unavailable. Please close positions or cancel orders first.
