What immediate actions should I take if I suspect unauthorized access to my account?
If you suspect unauthorized activity in your trading account, follow these steps to investigate and secure your account:
1. Troubleshoot for possible causes.
- Check if you have recently installed any expert advisors (EAs), as these tools are designed to automatically open and close trades based on predefined conditions.
- Review your account activity for any stop-outs, which occur when trades are closed automatically due to insufficient account balance or when the margin falls below the required level.
2. Secure your account.
If the issue is not related to EAs or stop-outs, take immediate action:
-
Change your passwords:
- Change your MetaTrader 4 or MetaTrader 5 passwords, client portal password, and the password for the email account linked to your trading account.
- Store your passwords securely and avoid using shared or public devices.
- Notify our customer support team about the suspected account compromise as soon as possible.
-
Enhance your security:
- Enable an authenticator code on your client portal for added security.
Important reminder
Your login credentials are set and maintained by you, and Vantage does not have access to your account or passwords. Always keep them secure and never share them with third parties.
